Short post that is not quite as fascinating as reading about “ourselves,” but should be interesting to refer back to later on.
Germans…
1. ..are obsessed with soccer (Fußball). Considering the World Cup was hosted in Germany, this makes a lot of sense.
2. ..are inflexible, blunt, and rude. I’m guessing this might apply less to the younger generation, but I have heard from many people that Germans are very to the point when speaking.
3. ..Germans are extremely efficient.
4. ..are insecure about their history and have no national pride. But admit it guys, WWI and WWII were the best parts of World History.
+1. ..drink a lot of beer. The drinking age is 16. Hitler first attempted a coup in a beer hall. Definitely could be true, though I’m not sure if I’ll partake in any of this at the moment.

hey. about those stereotypes, i agree with them from first-hand experience.
1. the german I stayed with played no sports but she had so many soccer things in her house, mostly boardgames.
2. there was a french teacher i had when i was in germany (it was only for a week) but she asked me how many years i’ve been taking french and i didn’t know exactly. because it’s been on and off and unfrequent. and she freaked out. “HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW HOW ANY YEARS?!”
3. germans recycle quite efficiently. always seperating plastics, cans, paper, and other things.
4. germans don’t hang german flags. and most are quite ashamed at how their flags remind people of antisemitism.
+1. the high schools in germany have drinking parties as soon as you turn 16. when i first arrived, everyone was invited to a bar. and the bartenders don’t really care if your legal or not.
The End.
It’s always good to know when a country lives up to it’s stereotypes. I know America is ^_^.
